One area where the 50-year-old HST multiple units are still very much in evidence is Scotland. They run at frequent intervals on the diesel routes to Aberdeen and Inverness. The trains are branded as ‘Inter7City’ by Scotrail because they connect the cities of Glasgow, Edinburgh, Stirling, Perth, Dundee, Aberdeen and Inverness. One of the last trains I was able to photograph on this trip was the 1A39 to Aberdeen. I managed to capture it just a few metres before the Gleneagles stop.
