Two years ago, further competition for RENFE appeared on Spain’s railways. Namely IRYO, a company in which the Italian firm Trenitalia holds a majority stake. A train operated by Intermodalidad de Levante S.A., the company behind the IRYO brand, runs on the high-speed line from Madrid to Barcelona.
