On Friday the 13th, I’d been persuaded to go to Oberstdorf for the IC 2013 from Dortmund. As we’d arrived in the Allgäu region over an hour before the train was due, we popped into a local restaurant for an ice cream. Well fortified, we then made our way to the photo spot, where the pair of Orient and Verkehrsrot 218 locomotives passed us by, running about 20 minutes late.
