When I was released from the police station in Taormina after about 90 minutes, I headed back to the railway line to catch the ICN 1963. On the way from the car park to the spot, a freight train passed by, hauled by a spotless 652 and carrying sliding-wall wagons. Once I’d set myself up at the spot, the Intercity Notte from Milan passed by, running about 15 minutes late.
